Choreography CHOREOGRAPHY

BLAFLUM

A comical exploration of the internal struggle with the idea of self. Satirizing the super hero who loses power once the weakness of his or her true identity is exposed, "Blaflum" indulges in the possible "wasteland" of our beings to strengthen and find the good within our "bad" in hopes of moving on without disguise.

MUNDANE

“ To dance is to give oneself up to the rhythms of all life.”
- Dr. Maya V. Patel

Simply a duet with a bench, "Mundane" is a playful look at the simple, everyday matters of living, where anything is your stage and all aspects of life are exciting.

HABITUAL PATHS

Set to Dave Brubeck's "Take 5," "Habitual Paths" is a rhythmic display of the choreography we subconsciously create in our daily routines and habits and the challenge of moving against the flow.

INVENTORY

“Mirror mirror on the wall who’s the fairest one of all?”….. A common question asked by many in which the answer always seems to change. Reality is often skewed, truth is interpretative, and the surreal become actual according to our frame of mind. As a result, what we perceive in a mirror can tell us what we yearn for, how we think, where we feel we stand in society, and what we value. Is self-concept then based on the perception of how others view us? Is it possible to have a concept of self outside of social experience? Can we truly identify ourselves? If we can then where does this sense of identity come from? “Inventory” serves to explore these questions and the value we put on physical appearance and social guidelines to determine an identity.
